Parks and Recreation Update 1/13/23:

Playground equipment, parking improvements, ADA accessibility and additional shelters are all elements that are being investigated for a new area at Fishery Park. Due to unprecedented inflation, and supply chain issues and extensive infrastructure costs,  the original park plan designed in 2021 for the Land Parks and Recreation Fund grant has been rejected by the BMA as of 1/9/23.  We are diligently working towards a new design and are hopeful construction will be completed this physical year.

Tennis Court improvements through the Project Diabetes grant will begin in the spring of 2023.  These improvements include new surfacing, nets, and striping to include two new tennis courts and also pickleball.  Lighting and new bleachers will be added in 2024.

The Dry Land Bridge Replacement Project located on the Linear Trail is currently in the Design and Estimating phase.  Field Review and Typography Evaluations have been completed. Our goal is to have this construction project completed by the end of 2023.

Leaf Season 2022-2023

Starting Oct 31, 2022, The Town of Erwins Public Works Department will begin their annual leaf collection.  Leaves can be raked to the road for pick up.  If there are any limbs, trash, or other debris in the piled -up leaves, they will not be collected and a door hanger will be placed to notify the resident of what they need to do to ensure their leaves will be picked up. Also, Please make sure no other obstructions, such as cars, be in the way that would prohibit collection. Please be aware that due to high volumes of requests and weather concerns, it might take some time to get to each residence.  After Jan 30, 2023 all leaves must be bagged and set at the road for curbside pickup.  There is no need to call for a work order.  Our Vacuum Trucks will run street by street through the end of January.  Please be aware that due to high volume of leaves in our area, it may be up to several weeks before every street is covered within the town limits.
